Processing time for H1/H4 drop box in Chennai (been 10 days. worried)

Hi,
I submitted documents at the Chennai VFS agency on Dec 18th for my H1 extn and my son's H4 extn. While booking appointment and filling DS160, processing time was given as 7 days. So we booked tickets for Jan4th. We have not received our passports yet.
Can anybody else who submitted docs around the same time let me know what their status is? The VFS online passport tracker says my passport is with US embassy/consulate.

Hi Brinda,

I have also submitted the my docs for dropbox for H1 extension on 12/20/2019, but my status is in 'Administrative processing'. I didn't get any other updates from the consulate. I booked my return tickets for 01/03 and cancelled it.

What is the status of your case?
