PERM filing from India

Hi,

I have six months left on my current H1B to complete the 6 year term and I have come back to India since my request to extend my visa got denied. I am working for the same employer in their office in India. Can my employer still file a PERM petition for me from India ?

Hello Experts, I am in a similar situation, I have 1 year and 2 months left in my 6 year term and currently I am back to India, When I checked with my company helpdesk while I was in the US, they told me that I need to be working in the US in order to file PERM. Is that correct? From the above response, looks like they are wrong?
