H-1 Stamping Passport Expiry Very urgent Please help

I am planning to come to India on February 19th and I have fixed an
appointment with US embassy, chennai on February 25th to get my H-1
VISA stamped.

I was preparing the documents and one of the document requirement says
that I should have a valid passport with a validity date at least six
months beyond the applicants intended period of stay.

My passport expires on 24-02-2007 which is 3 months ahead of my H-1
expiry date which is on 05-05-2007.

Please could you advise me on this as to how should I go about this. I
am not able to renew my passport because the Indian Embassy in US says
that I should apply for renewal only 6 - 12 months prior to the expiry
date in my case it will be 24-02-2006.

It would be really great if you could suggest me as to what I am
supposed to do on this issue.

I just went through the US embassy, chennai website and it says

"An individual passport valid for travel to the U.S. for at least six months after your date of entry in to the U.S."

The one in the immihelp.com says

"A passport valid for travel to the United States and with a validity date at least six months beyond the applicant's intended period of stay in the United States."

Please throw some ideas on this folks ASAP.
