  • H1B and GC process when working for just 20-30 hrs per week

    Hi Friends or Shervin:

Is it possible for an employer to file for an H1B if he is able to provide only
20-30 hours per week.....I think this will be like a part-time job, and with this is it possible to file a GC ....please advise....

Please let me know minimum hours/week that is a must for H1B and GC Process.....

    Your help is highly appreciated...

    Thanks

GC is for future employment. Your current part time employment has nothing to do with the future employment. When an employer files GC, then it means that they have a full-time job for which they need a candidate. So GC cannot be filed for part-time.
Not a legal advice. Use of this information is strictly at your own risk.

For H1-B you must have at least 20hrs/week employment providing you basic coverage.

Thank you shervin and Arani for your immediate reply.

Arani, what exactly you mean by basic coverage, does it mean the basic coverages like Insurance, 401k, etc.... along with a minimum of 20 hrs/week??

        Shervin/Arani:
How does a 20 hrs/week job get reflected, won't this be a part-time job rather than fulltime, will a H1b be approved for that kind of job????

        Please advise...

        Thanks,
        vinod
