L1 to H1

Hi -

I have L1 Visa which is valid until January, 2012 with Company A.
I have H1 visa separately with Company B.

Now, I quit Company A and started working for Company B in H1 visa.
I did not go out of the country yet for H1 stamping.

Meanwhile can i go to Canada as a Visitor for which I have valid Canadian Visitor Visa valid until November, 2010, and come back to Visa?
Please let me know.

It really depends on how the H1b was approved. If the H1b was approved as a change of status, it would be illegal to work for L1 company. If the H1b was approved without a change of status, it would be illegal to quit L1 and join and work for the H1b company unless you enter on the H1b visa.

Either ways, you have done something wrong. Either worked illegally on L1 or H1. Unless you clearly mention the details of your case, it is recommended that you leave the country and enter on the visa that allows you to work clearly for the H1b employer and get an I-94 for the same.

You will need H1 visa to re-enter the US in H1 status.
