  • OPT student cheated by consultant - Please help

    Hello,

I am student on OPT. I joined a consultancy recently since after speaking with
them, they appeared honest. But now they are marketing me by faking my
resume. I do not want to do that and want to get out of this mess. But,
unfortunately they have had me sign an agreement for $5000.

If I leave them without paying the money, would I be in trouble ?

I can prove that they themselves have ****d my resume and I had given them
    only my original resume.

Also, for a contract to be legal, do I need to sign below all the pages, or only
    on the last page ?

Please advise what should I do.

    Thanks in Advance

They recruited you based on your education/experience.
They are violating rules by changing your resume, so the contract you signed isn't valid any more.

Thanks a lot for your reply.

But if they threaten me with legal action, what options do I have ? Can I lodge a complaint with some federal/state government agency ?

      Thanks

Not a legal advice. Use of this information is strictly at your own risk.

You can certainly see a contract lawyer and defend any legal action they take.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.
