Applying for H1B again after 6 years stay in USA

Hi,

I am on H1B and My 6 years period will be over by July 2011. After that I need to stay out of USA for 1 year.

Do i need to wait for 1 year to apply for H1B again (or) to re-enter into US ?.

If that 1 year is to re-enter into US, then can i apply for new H1B on April2012 ?

Can anybody advise me.

Your new H1 start date must be 1 year away from your last day in the US.
H1 petition can be filed as early as 6 months before the start date if cap is open.
Which means if cap is open in Jan 2012, your employer can request a start date of Jul 2012. Otherwise they must wait for next year's cap which starts in Oct 2012, by filing in Apr 2012.
