  • Am i eligible to apply at chennai

    Hi,

I am currently in USA. working on H1b for the past two years. I came to USA on F1 visa. I am from vijayawada. my problem here is

Hyderabad consulate visa appointment dates aren't available in november. Can i apply at Chennai? (i have already booked an appointment but when i saw state of residence as Tamilnadu i cancelled my appointment).

    Please Help me out.

A returning H1B worker can book an appointment at any U.S consulate in India.

Did you book a new appointment?
I assume 'state of residence' is on appointment confirmation letter.
For first timers, does 'state of residence' matter because Instructions says First timers can apply to any consulate? Also, while booking I never saw an option to enter state of Residence.
My DS 160 form has all accurate information.

        Please help!
        Thanks!

I called US consulate at chennai and they said currently we can apply anywhere in india for H class visas. Only F and J-classs need to apply in their state of residence.Only thing you have to do is explain your reasons for applying at chennai, in my case i couldn't find any dates available in hyd.
