Friend got laid off while they went for h1 stamping

Yesterday my friend got laid off while she went to get her h1 stamping. Her stamping date is 03/03/23. Her F1 OPT also expired last month. She is currently trying to contact her Full Time Employer to see if she can push the lay off date for a month so that she can get her stamping.
