Hey guys,
I need some advice on I-539 change of status application. If you could give any suggestions based on your experience, that would be very helpful.
I had submitted the application to change my status from H-1B to F-1 back in June 2010. In October, I received request for more evidence from them, which I mailed to them on the same day. However, I still have not heard from them whether my application was approved or not. By Dec 20th, if application is still not processed, I can call them. I need to travel back home soon urgently. I was wondering what steps should I take before leaving the country because if I travel abroad I will be applying for the new F-1 visa at a US consulate abroad. Do I need to cancel my application with USCIS here before leaving? What are the consequences of leaving while my application is pending here?
