  • H1 Visa Mumbai Consulate Approved 221g Blue Form

    Hello All
I had my Visa Interview on Dec 17 in Mumbai Consulate.
Just Wanted to share my experience with all. Hope it is helpful to everyone.

On the day of the interview the interviewer was very professional.
    She asked the following questions.

What do you work as for your company ?
Do you work on Site or with a client ?
    Who is your client ?
How long have you been on H1 ?
What is your maximum educational qualification ?
Can I see your last two pay stubbs ?

After I showed her the pay stubbs she just removed the Blue 221g form and ticked all the documents that are listed in for personal and my company documents.

It took me a week to collect all the documents from my employer.
Then I went with all the documents on Dec 30th.
Waited all day to meet the same Interviewer.
She just collected all the documents and said that they would let me know as soon as she is done with reviewing the documents.
I asked her how long will it take. She said she has 10 cases to review before she gets to mine.
Fortunately for me the next day was the last wednesday of the month.
US consulate in mumbai is closed for administrative processing.
I received an email on wednesday itself to come visit the consulate with my passport.
Thursday I went to consulate and she told me that apparently I dont work for a good company in US. But it isnt bad enough to revoke my h1.
I almost freaked out at that moment.
Then she said that your visa is approved. You will recieve your passport in some days.

It ended well for me and there are many such cases where it ends well if you have the right documents.
Mostly no one posts their experiences once they get their visas approved.
All the documents listed in immihelp is a must carry if you are working for an IT company and working on client side.
Immihelp has been of great help with all the information available out here.
Dont be disheartened by all the negative cases listed in the forums.
A thing to note is that very few post their positive experience.
    Good Luck all
    Have a great 2011.

Have a positive frame of mind.

Nice to know your case in details. I have seen Mumbai/Hyd/Chennai consulate are relatively better responding with in time compared to Delhi. Ppl like me waiting for their cases to get clearer in Delhi consulates are not in lucky enough. Your client is a direct client of your company or there is any vendor in between? In delhi 20-30 % employer->vendor->client cases are getting rejected. For few candidates, clients are being contacted and again put on hold. In Delhi avg time is 2-3 mo for green slip. You were lucky to get in 10-12 days that also during holidays. All the best.

      Hi Cowboy007,

My case is similar to your case. I attended interview 20th Dec 2010 at mumbai. VO asked few questions and gave me 221G blue form. In that she wrote one doc from my employer and aked me to come directly along with the mentioned doc at 9:30 any business working day.

Now I got the doc and about to attend again. Can you please answer below questions.

      1) Are they going to interview again?
      2) Should we ask for same VO to interview again or they will handle it.

      Thanks in advance

Thanks Chander and Good Luck to you too.
In my case my employer is direct to the client... No middle vendors.

        @vneerudu

        1) Are they going to interview again?
No they just collect your documents and will let you know that the consulate will contact you once they have reviewed your documents.

        2) Should we ask for same VO to interview again or they will handle it.
They handle it ..you just need to go with blue slip passport enveloper and the requested documents.
When you go outside the consulate tell them you are "Pending Case"
Thats how they identify our cases.
Then they make sure you meet the same VC
If he or she is not there that day then you have to come back again when he or she is available.
        Good Luck Bud
You will be fine don't worry

New H1B visa stamping issue - 221g blue form

          Hello Everyone,
I gave my new H1B stamping interview on 3rd Jan 2012. I got a 221G blue slip with a list of additional documents to be submitted. The requested documents are as follows:
1)A copy of the petition with all supporting documents as filed to USCIS
2)A Letter from the personnel department at the US job site stating that there is a vacancy for you.
3)A detailed and specific description of the internal development project to which you will be assigned (include a complete technical description).. marketing analysis etc. etc
          4) Photographs of the workplace.

I am having a really tough time first of all because my Employer took a hell lot of time to gather all these documents. Also Ideally I was supposed to submit these documents to VFS counsulate of mumbai. However my Employer just informed me that they cannot send these documents to me as they are confidential so they have directly mailed it to VFS mumbai.
First of all I am not sure if the Employer allowed to send documents directly in such cases?
How will I come to know once my documents are approved? Will I see my Application CEAC no on the website? or they will email me?

Guys if you have any inputs please help me.. It would be highly appreciated.

          Thanks,
          Maulik
