Hi,
I went to the SSA office to apply for a new SSN. The length of my name goes like this
First Name: A ( 5 characters length)
Last Name: B/C/D (9/10/7 characters length respectively)
When the officer in the SSA office was filling out the SSN form online. She told me that the system can accept only a max of 26 characters length. Since my last name has 26 characters and 2 spaces in between the names she was not able to update it in the system.So the system was throwing an error like name mismatch between the SSN application and I94.
She told me i need to go the department of homeland security and remove any of last name and then to apply for a SSN.
If I make this change there will be a mismatch between my SSN name and my passport name and will make me go into deep trouble.
Can anyone advice me as to how to handle this problem.
