h1b cap gap extension how and when to apply

Hi,

My company will file H1B for me this year. Can you please let me know how and when (if at all) do I need to involve my graduate school for getting a cap gap extension. My OPT will expire on July 4th 2011.

Once your employer receives a receipt for their petition, you can inform your school DSO of the H1 petition filed for you and they will make entries in your SEVIS record to give you cap-gap authorization. Also inform them when H1 petition is approved.
