H1-H4-H1 Change of Status

Working on H1-b my employeer applied for H4 change of status.I have salary slips till Jun2011.I never got the H4 receipt number.I went to India in Oct 2011 and got my H4 stamped.
Now again I am applying for COS from H4 to H1.From July 2011 till Oct 2011(till I left country) my H1 was valid but I dn't have the salary slips.

In this case what should be my visa status?If H1 then I dn't have the sal slips from July-Oct.Will this be a problem if I apply for COS to H1?

Please advice.

You will need to get paid for the time you are in the US in H1 status only.
