Hi,
I am working onsite for XYZ company holding L1B Visa. I am placed to work for the client company YY in California. After 3 years working onsite now, company YY is willing to offer me a full time Job and sponsoring H1.

Can I work for them as soon they apply H1 for me or should I wait until Oct 2011 to start for them.

Is there any steps needed to be taken to make this transition smooth. Appreciate your response

You have to be employed with your L1 employer until the H1B gets approved. You can be employed with H1B sponsor only as of the effective date mentioned in your H1B approval notice. If this is a fresh H1B on a new CAP, then the H1B effective date will be on or after Oct 1st.
