Can one transfer an approved H1B before October1?

Hi
Is it possible to transfer an H1B (approved for 3 years starting Oct 2011)before October1 to another compnay? Or it needs to apply a fresh H1B for another company?

You can transfer the H1B to any other employer before Oct 1st. However, you can start working for the new employer only after Oct 1st. There is no much difference between appplying a fresh H1B or filing a new H1B using the CAP from the existing approval notice.
