  • H1-B stamping first time in India

    Hello

Recently my H1-b got approved and i received i-797 C.In that form,it mentions i need to travel to consulate for stamping.I am mumbai,so my consulate mentioned was mumbai.but i recently read that, mumbai is not accepting any interviews for H or L visas.
So can i take appointment to another city in india.Or should i mention the Vfs department?because my papers would be sent to mumbai consulate already?i am very confused here.
Also when i am supposed to travel to india.my H-4 is expireing on sept 4 - 2011
And when would the appointments be open for the month of September?because while i am trying to book the appointment, the entire september month is greyed out.
Can anybody help me in this

    thanks
    bindu

With recent change of rules, Indian citizens can apply at any consulate/embassy in India anyway. Just follow the process on VFS website and you will see appointments at other consulates/embassy and you can schedule at any of those. The consulate/embassy shown in approval notice or selected in DS160 does not matter.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.
