Make sure you return the I-94 that was attached to the I-797 (COS) when you leave the country.

Hi,

I have an approved H1B application with Change of Status(COS) starting on October 1st.
I was wondering whether I can depart the US ON October 1st without causing any issues when I go for H1B stamping in India, since me departing the US on October 1st might be considered as abandoning the COS??? Is it safer to depart US after October 1st??
