'Fresh' Vs 'Renewal' of H-1B visa

Hello,

My current H-1B visa expired in Jan 2011. I am going to India next month. Mumbai consulate does not show dates for 'Renewal' of H-1B visa currently, but only shows dates for 'Fresh/New' H-1B visa. My wife's case comes under 'Fresh' H-1B visa. Therefore, can she take date at Mumbai consulate and add me as a 'Family member travelling together'? In that case, I will be too under 'Fresh' H-1B visa category. Can we do that? Will it affect my chances of H-1B visa stamp approval?

That should not be an issue. Talk to VFS helpdesk to get more clarification.

I contacted VFS and they replied that we can take the appointment together under 'Fresh' visa category.
