Reg. Visa Appointment in US Consulate Chennai

Hi All,

I am currently working in US on H1 Visa. My Visa expired in Sep 2009 and I got it extended till Sep 2012. I have not visited India after that, so I currently do not have a visa stamping in my passport after the one that expired in Sep 2009.

I am planning to visit India this month and in the process of setting up the appointment with the US Consulate in Chennai.

One statement in the VFS Website makes me confused. It says that an applicant does not qualify for appointments in the visa renewal category if the applicant has a US Visa that expired more than 12 months ago.

My question is Do I qualify for the renewal or not ?

Please help me out. Thanks In Advance.

As the question clearly states, you do not qualify to apply for the new visa in the renewal catergory since your previous visa expired more than 12 months ago.
