  • H1B from startup company with small salary

    Hi

i am working for a small startup company as software developer. we are 5 people (4 americans and me), but i am the only full time employee. the other 4 have a day job where they earn their money and work just part time for our company. we are not very profitable yet, but are serious about continuing it.

    2 questions:
    1. is it possible to get an H1B visa for me under such circumstances?
    2. how is that with the salary? a small startup can of course not afford to pay me an average industry wage. i would in the beginning work for an extremely small salary (somewhere around $1,500) and then later (hopefully) get more.

    thanks
    Simon

That would be difficult. Employers have to pay minimum prevailing wage for the position and the position has to be such that it requires at least a Bachelor's degree. Petition filing costs also need to be borne by the employer. Small companies also face extra scrutiny in their petitions.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.
