Travel out of USA

Hello,
I am on H1B visa and my wife is on H4 which is valid through Aug 2012. My priority date is current now so we will be applying for AP, EAD and I-485 in Jan 2012. We are planning to visit Mexico for tourism early Feb 2012 when our AP, EAD and I-485 will be in processing. Is it okay to travel and overseas in this condition, what kind of documentation is needed to come back to USA?

You can travel. You need a valid H1B and H4 visa, valid passports and valid H1B petition to return back if you don't have the AP and EAD by that time.
