H1B stamping for COS

I came to US on L1 Visa and got hired by a company with H1B sponsorship (as full time) . So I have a approved H1B petition now which was filed as change of status.
When I go to India next time , I should get a visa stamping right ?
Should I do any other paperwork other than that required for appearing before the consulate ?
How risk is my overseas travel, as am hearing recently that lots of visa are getting rejected in (Chennai) Consulate.
