Relocation amount taxed, can I claim refund?

Hello,
I recently moved for my job and was agreed a relocation amount of lumpsum of $5000. I came to know afterwards that this was taxable and I will be getting about 3300 in hand since the amount is taxable. Will I be able to claim the deduction when I file for my taxes? I am H1.

It depends on a lot of things like whether the move was more than 50 miles or not, how the income is treated as on your W2, your filing status, whether you itemize deductions or not, whether you actually incurred any moving expenses or not (with receipts). Consult a tax consultant for more information.
