ok quick update on the count .... of the 11 ppl .. 8 have confirmed visas and 1 is camping outside vfs today [@anand ] which i am pretty sure is as good as getting the visa . so 9 of 11 is the current count .

Today at VFS site, My passport stattus changed. It can be collected or dispatched by courier. Hope it will have the visa stamped on it. Will keep you posted.

the only thing i find abnormal is the stinking 221g ....
looks like all the VO's in this world have been asked to hand out 221g's to any contract they find.

It seems most 221(g) cases get clear in 3-4 weeks.

Mine is talking longer...
mine is H1B, after PhD .PhD is from US (5yr student visa F1)

Visa interview 17 April 2012, got pink 221g
Doc submission 19 April 2012
Checking case status shows "case not found" weird...

Now its more than a month...waiting

Anything abnormal??

Just heard 2 other users from this forum got this visa recently .. so that makes the total 8 of 11 ppl have got there visas after 221g . " there is always hope " BEST OF LUCK guys.

I applied for and was issued a B1/B2 in February after getting a 221(g) pink form

VISA Type : First time B1/B2
Interview Date : 10-Feb-2012
Place of Interview : New Delhi
Interview Outcome: Handed a 221(g) pink form with no documents required to be uploaded
Tracking: The case number on the pink form never worked on the US Embassy NIV Case status page. Always said something to the effect of "...could not find case number...". Embassy gave a generic reply when I raised this issue via VFS. Could see status on the VFS passport tracking website.
Documents Requested: No additional docs were requested by the embassy/VFS
Documents Uploaded: N/A
Clearance received: 27-Feb-2012 (17 calendar days)
Passport received at destination (Chandigarh): 29-Feb-2012

Now, I have applied for an F1 and am faced with exactly the same scenario (even got the exact same VO as the interviewer)

VISA Type : F1
Interview Date : 18-May-2012
Place of Interview : New Delhi
Interview Outcome: Handed a 221(g) pink form with no documents required to be uploaded
Tracking: This time the case number given on the pink form is working on the US Embassy NIV Case status page from today onwards (i.e. 1 working day & 3 calendar days later). Also showing the corresponding status on the VFS passport tracking website ("under process at US Embassy").
Documents Requested:
Documents Uploaded:
Clearance received:
Passport received at destination (Gurgaon):

I'm hoping the process is as smooth or smoother than last time so that I can make it to my university on time. I asked the VO who took the interview whether having gone through the admin processing just 3 months back should speed it up this time. She said it doesn't affect things (I somehow still doubt that). Anyway, fingers crossed!

acknowledgement email

I got acknowledgement email from vfs that they have received my email and will be forwarding the same to US embassy,and i will be receiving a reply once they get from embassy.

Again ball is in US embassy's court,,and i will be waiting with renewed hope after 6 weeks of delay.

Sorry I didn't read last 2 line. I think you should wait. Atleast something is going on. Its very +ve sign.

In my case-VO was asking that have you ever applied for US visa?

We cant think what actually they are doing.

May be they have change the passport collection scenario. Call VFS and clarify everything.

this is what they ask in email----

u are requested to submit the copy of bio-page of all the passports previously held by you at the nearest VFS centre for further processing.

Please log on to the given link in order to check the nearest US Visa Application Centre.

VFS Centre Timings: - 8:00am to 1:00pm and 2:00pm to 3:00pm (Monday to Friday).

Also you need to pay Rs183/- in cash (VFS Service Charges) while submission of passport/Documents at the respective VFS centers.

Note: You need to carry the hard copy of this email for your reference.

I remember visa officer asking me at the end ,,whether i have applied for visa at mumbai counslate also???
i called VFS and they say counslate is asking for previous passport's bio page information...i replied the mail saying i didnt have any,,and then again called VFS, now they say you will get confirmation email with in 24-48 hrs ,,please wait,

Why they are asking for passport if they didn't ask while giving pink slip. Did you call VFS -clarify everything. Might be they got your passport and asking to collect.

thats true bro, even my friends got green slip in hyderabad , and got cleared in 3 weeks times,they are having EC model ,as do I.
they told green slip is more of a check when embassy want to find out that who has control on employee,client or employer?
what cycle you work in?are u in consulting thing or full time directly ?BEP?

PS: 1 thing i noted,i started having fun once again since last few days,after forgetting about this whole visa thing and then suddenly email came asking me to submit previous passport.Even embassy does not want you to forget all this 221g mess,lolz,,

I am a Physical therapist, as far as i know i fall under EC model, but my employer assigns work to me..!! In my case employer verification is also done in first week of march and even they said everything looks fine..!!! They have sent their report already to the consulate when my HR contacted them..!!! so its just stuck at embassy level... and my passport too..!!! They are not even asking anything either from me or from my employer ..!!! My 4 weeks vacation turned into 221g nightmare ..!!!
I hope they do not reject my case now after more than 5 months..!!! I am still positive as my passport is still with them and they have not sent my case back to USCIS yet..!!!
BE POSITIVE..!!!
