  • H1B from US division of an Indian IT company

    Hi,

I work for a large IT services company in India. My employer applied for H1B visa and wanted me to relocate to US and work on IT Strategy projects. Typically, these projects are short-term in nature and run for 2-4 months. These projects are not continuous (2 projects in a year) and in between these projects, I should work on pre-sales/sales activities for my employer. In H1-B petition, I stated that I will work for the U.S. division of my employer and did not state the client name. My petition is approved.

Next week, I have the personal interview with the consulate. My question is - since I do not know the customer I will work for in the US, I do not have the client letter with me. I am going to say that I will work for the customer when we win a customer and in remaining time, I will work on sales. Is that going to be an issue? Is yes, how can I mitigate the risk?

FYI, I worked in the U.S for 2 years on L1-B, studied MBA for 2 years on F1, traveled on B1 as well.

    Please suggest. Thanks!
