Can I get H1B stamped after a year it was approved?

Hello,
I had my H1B approved in March, 2011. I wasn't able to get the stamping done as I was going on a maternity leave to join my husband in the US.

Now, I would want to get the visa stamped and join work at onsite. Is it possible to get the stamping done at this time. If so what will be the visa period, is it per the petition or is it the number of months from visa stamping date. Please advise.
