Is stamping required when I travel to India on my valid stamp but new H1

Hi,

My H1 with my previous employer was approved last year and I got my stamping done in India in November. However I was laid off in January and I found a new job in march. My new employer filed for a new H1 which got approved.

Iam planning to travel to India now. Can I come back to the US without getting a new stamp since my previous stamp has an expiry date of 2014 and my new approved I797?
