Interview waiver for minor - clarification

my 6yr kid is eligible for interview waiver..but we still want to add her to the appointment with my wife and take her for stamping(as we will be short on time if they ask for kid to come later for verification). can we still take her?,,is the waiver compulsory that we must not take her or just optional?

It is optional. If you fill a separate DS160 and pay the visa fee for the kid and book the combined visa interview slot, then you can take the kid along with you.
