H1B transfer approved, can I join them after 6 months?

I am currently working in a full-time position for company A.
A consulting firm B applied for my H1B transfer and it is approved for 3 years(till April, 2015).
However, I do not wish to join the consulting firm B for the next 6-8 months due to personal reasons. If company B is OK with this, can I join them after 6-8 months?
Will this cause any issues with GC processing at a later date if I plan to apply for GC through company B?
I would appreciate any feedback from Forum members.

You can join them as long as your I-94 number on the approved I797 matches the I-94 that you got at the airport. No issues with GC.
