    Passport with consulate since 6 Months

    I went for my H1B stamping to Chennai consulate on 22nd Dec 2011. My visa was approved but I got a pink slip and my passport was retained by the consulate. Since then I have got no updates from the consulate. On mailing the vfs for the status, they just reply saying its pending processing. Has anyone heard of a case like this where passport has been retained for this long..whom should I contact in this case?
