How to justify H1b to B2 change of status to USCIS?
Any sample letter for such case would be really helpful for me!
I've been in US for about 9 years (perfectly legally), therefore USCIS may question why I need a visitor visa.
I was laid off a bit over 1 month ago (still less than 60 days) while on STEM OPT status. Last year employer filed H1b petition, for which employer's advocate responded PRIOR to my laid off (I had no idea that I may be laid off at the time of RFE).
AFTER I was laid off, USCIS approved H-1b petition (even though I reported unemployment with my DSO BEFORE H1b approval, updated school right after I was laid off).
I would like to stay in USA and keep lawful status, therefore I am going to apply to change status to B2.
Or is there a better way to stay in US legally?
