  • Income tax after status change from B1 to L1b visa

    Hi,
My situation is the following. I came to the US in July 2013 on a B1 visa to set up an US subdivision of my German employer. In August 2014 my status changed to L1B and I am since then officially employed by the US company we have founded and I pay tax in the US. If I understand the resident determination correct I am a resident of the US for the entire period because I lived only with a few days intermission in the US since July 2013. As long as I was employed by the German company (until Aug 2014) I payed tax in Germany. How do I have to file tax for 2014? Does anybody have experience with a similar situation? Will I have to pay tax in the US also for the months I received my income in Germany? If so, will I receive the tax from Germany back? I know that there is a tax treaty between the US and Germany.
Thanks a lot for any advice. This is too complicated.
    Best,
    Ed
