  • Returning to US after 4 years - is old SSN still valid?

    Hi all,

I was living in US on L1B visa from 2011 to 2014. I had received SSN that time. I returned to India in January 2014, and staying here since then. Now, my current company has done my L1 and i'll be moving to US soon.

Question is - will my old SSN (which I got in 2011) still valid? Can I use it everywhere (driving license, credit card etc.)? Or since I'll be getting new visa - I need to apply for new SSN again?

    Appreciate if someone can guide/assist.

Your Social Security Number stays with you for life, regardless of whether you are in the US or what status you are in.
