My child has an ITIN issued in 2017 with middle digits as 96. I don't recall receiving any letter from IRS on its renewal but got an alert when trying to submit 2020 return using tax software.
The language seems ambigous as one freetaxusa website it states "All ITINs with the 4th and 5th digits of 88 will expire Dec. 31, 2020. Additionally, ITINs with middle digits 90, 91, 92, 94, 95, 96, 97, 98 or 99, that were assigned before 2013 and have not already been renewed, are expiring this year and need to be renewed. "

We have claimed her as a dependent in the 2017,2018,2019 returns, so wondering if I need to get the ITIN renewed prior to submission of 2020 returns or are we covered as the ITIN was issued in 2017 (i.e - later than 2013).
Appreciate guidance.
