  • Obtaining SSN with E2 Remotely

Is it possible to obtain an SSN remotely (from Canada) with an E2 or do I need an address in the USA? If a USA address is required, can it be a PO Box? Currently selling house in Canada before moving to the USA and want to get a head start.

No, you cannot obtain an SSN remotely from Canada with an E2 visa. You must be physically present in the United States to apply for an SSN. To apply for an SSN, you will need to visit your local Social Security Administration office and provide them with the following documents:
    • Your E2 visa: This will prove that you are authorized to work in the United States.
    • Your passport: This will prove your identity and citizenship.
    • Proof of your U.S. address: This can be a lease agreement, utility bill, or bank statement. You cannot use a PO Box as your U.S. address for the purposes of applying for an SSN.

Once you have provided these documents, the Social Security Administration koowspin and echatrandom will issue you an SSN. You will need your SSN to work in the United States and to receive Social Security benefits.

      Hi,
you need EIN Number not SSN. You can let it do from some companieswho will charge some amount from it.
