This is not an legal advise, just my experience. It may differ case to case.
At OFC: appointment was at 8 AM, reached 7:30, they opened the gate at 7:45.
First queue to check the DS160 details.
Second queue to paste a sticker on your passport with some basic details.
DS160 details verification.
Final queue: photo and fingerprint scan.
Whole process took 10 minutes. I was out from OFC office at 7:55
Next Day: US embassy:
Crowed was more as F1 student’s visa were more, once you enter the embassy. There was a separate line for L1B blanket.
first Queue: they will remove all the unwanted papers from your petition as generally attorney will send big set of papers.
3 sets of I129S ( generally 4 pages ) and first page of I-979, one of these sets will have primary applicants DA-160 conformation page. Demand draft and passport. Rest of the papers they will remove. ( G28 will also be removed )
If there is crowd, they will make another queue outside main visa interview building, in my case that was big but moving faster. ( Family with Kids don’t have to join this queue )
Once you enter the main building where interviews are going on, they asked all the L1 guys to come out the queue and asked us to join the queue for Demand Draft verification.
Once DD verified, they will send you to another counter for some verification, don’t know what was that… they just took my passport and returned with an smile. Till now all indian employees no white skin interaction.
Now the final Queue of Visa interview. Most of them was nervous in the queue could see some of them were even revising the answers
, I would suggest to keep monitoring the guys having 3 sets of folded papers in their hand. They are the guys for L1 Visa. And keep monitoring what kind of questions are being asked to them.
Initially Me and my wife was discussing which officer is asking easy question and it will be good if they send us there. But after some time we realized all offers are the same, depend upon case to case their questions were different even on L1.
Finally I was standing in front on Visa officer. As most of the forum suggest that L1B blanket will be grilled a bit more then compare to L1B individual.
There were lots of rejection happening to don’t lose hope, think positive as your case may be different from them.
Question 1: How many years in this company?
Question2 : what is your US salary?
Question 3: For how many years you will be going to USA?
Question: what is your specialization knowledge ?
be precise in your answer better to give 1 or 2 line answer. More you talk more data you give them to ask question further.
Question: what does this product do ?
Question: to my wife, when did you get married?
Question: where in USA , you guys will be traveling to?
Question: Do you have kids?
Whole time he was typing, he looked at me once when I was answering specialized answer. Asked us to wait for 1 min and then stamped 2 sets of document and returned with “Congratulation, Your visa is approved. Enjoy your stay in the United States”.
My suggestion would be to prepare specialization knowledge answer perfectly. Short, precise and point to point answer will help. There will be rejection going on for other people so don’t get nervous. If you are really specialized your case may be different and much stronger.
