  • L2 ead application

    Hi everyone,
    I have an urgent question.
my wife currently in the US and is on an l1-b which is valid until October 2022.
i had applied for an l2 visa and was in the US in March 2020 for a few days after which I left the country.
i have an i-94 which is valid until October 2022.
i now have to apply for my ead.
ny question is that do I need to come to the US to apply for an ead or can I wife file from there?
note that I have a valid b1/b2 and had an l1-a earlier so I don’t think I’ll have to go through biometrics again.

    please help!

If you are not in USA right now, then that I94 is not valid anymore.

Yes, you need a valid I94 to apply for EAD.

Thank you Libra_14! Quick follow up question, I know friends who left the US right after filing for the EAD.
And when I download My latest I-94, it says valid until October 2022.
just double checking as it’s a hassle to travel given the covid situation.

I94 is to note your entry & departure date, at times VO can re-use the same I94, but it depends on him & it is decided at the time of your next entry.
As soon as you leave USA, that I94 is not valid anymore (specially to apply for EAD).
