  • Bringing My Girlfriend to the U.S. Before F2A Processing – Best Visa Option?

    Hi everyone,

I’m in the final stages of obtaining a Green Card through the F2A visa category, and I will be moving to the U.S. soon. My girlfriend and I are not married yet. She has been actively working in the tourism sector for the past 6-7 years, holds an associate degree, and does not speak English.

If I apply for her under the F2A category after I arrive in the U.S., the process will take a long time, and we may have to be apart for several years. That’s why I’m looking for an alternative way to bring her to the U.S. as soon as possible.

Considering her profile, which visa type would be the most suitable for her? Would a tourist visa (B1/B2), student visa (F1), or a work visa related to the tourism industry be a viable option?

Any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks in advance!

Hello, You have to be very careful to prove she plans to return home after her studies so the embassy doesn't suspect she's just bypassing the F2A wait. A work visa like the H-2B is a great fit for her career, but it’s much harder to secure since it requires a specific employer to sponsor her. It might be dealers kia worth consulting an immigration attorney to see if she can enter on a student or trainee visa now, with the intent to marry and transition to the F2A process later once you’re settled.
