Hello:
Can someone please provide some info/insight... here is my case:
1. Started MS in Jan-2013 and will finish my Master’s in Dec-2013 – 1 year intensive program at a good accredited Univ.
2. Doing Research Assistantship and got full financial support from my Dept/School. I am in the process of publishing some research papers and presenting some International seminars.
3. I will get only 1 year OPT after my Master’s. I have NEVER worked on CPT.
4. Currently on F1 visa (COS from H4 to F1 happened in Feb-2013).
5. Planning to visit F1 visa stamping in Canada (preferably Vancouver) in Nov-2013. Graduation in Dec-2013.
6. Have taken few online courses – part of my curriculum. I live in the same city where my school is and I have valid Driving license and other residence proof.
7. My husband is on H1-B visa. His 140 got approved long time ago.
Can someone please answer my Qs:
1. Is it ok to go for F1 visa stamping in Canada or Do i need to go to home country/India? I have taken 4 online courses (I do not know if the consulate people will come to know about these online courses. Also, I will graduate in Dec-2013 so I do not know if this is going to be a problem – getting F1 visa stamping just before graduation. I am planning to start my PhD from Aug-2014 ).
2. How many days does it take for the F1 visa stamping process in Canada? (Total Processing time)
3. Do you think the Visa office may ask about taking Online courses? Do they have database of all the Schools offering online programs? how do they know whether I have taken online course or not?
4. What if i say that I have not taken any online course? No where on my transcripts it is mentioned that I have taken few online courses.
5. What are my chances of getting F1 visa stamped with my Research
6. any other issues?
Please reply if you have any idea/info.
Also, Please share your experience if you or someone you know, who got COS from H4 to F1, has visited Canada for F1 visa stamping in the recent times.
Thanks in advance.
