A student on F1 visa stayer outside the US for more than 5 months

I am a PhD student in the US but I left the country over 6 months ago. I have been registered during this period and my absence did not affect my academic status as I was remotely working on my dissertation.
I am still registered with the university and wish to return to the US on F1 status. My i-20 and visa are still valid. Can I reenter?

You should be able to re-enter. Just check with your school's international students office regarding your SEVIS status.
