  • COS B1/B2 to F1 (Prospective student)

    Hi,

I have got a B2 visa last September and it is valid up to September this year. I plan to go to the United States in the spring of this year, so i can visit relatives there. But I recently decided, while I'm there, to visit a couple of community colleges (ESL program) and maybe try to change status from B2 to F1 (if I find college that is good for me). So should I tell to the POE officer what I plan, so he can give me "prospective student" stamp on my I-94 form, even I did not say at the embassy anything about it, or not? (because, then I have different plans, only visits).

    Thanks.

Your purpose should match with your visa category when you enter into the USA.

If you say your plan about change of status at POE, they may not allow you and may ask you to come with appropriate visa( that means F visa.)

    So, act wisely.

This is my opinion, not a legal advice.
