I have been reading various post and I am confused
I would like to request for your kind assistance in providing me best solution/advise for below queries.
I am currently working in UAE (Dubai) and obtained 5years multiple entry B2 visa for my wife and myself. The intention is to have baby in USA soil in order to obtain US passport for the baby. It may sound weird but I think this would be the best for my child. The reason behind is to secure child’s future as my current nationality is of no value.
1. Will I be questioned about wife’s pregnancy at POE? What would be the best answer in order to get through?
2. What would be the min/max expense to cover a delivery in New York? Normal & C-Section?
3. What would be the best hospital in NY with reasonable cost?
4. Is there any medical coverage for pregnancy with visitor’s visa?
5. After baby is delivered, how long does it take to obtain baby’s passport?
6. If B2 visa duration i.e. six months stay is expired, will it be possible to extend?
Appreciate your response and help.
Thank you
Best regards
That's called "birth tourism". Very popular with chinese and similar. You're in good company.
1. She may or not - depending on how far along she is.
2. NY (and I assume you mean NYC, not NY state) is one of the most expensive cities in the US - and that includes medical care. For a vaginal delivery, no insurance, no complications, two day in the hospital - between 15,000 and 20,000 US dollars. For a C-section, no insurance, no additional complications, three days in the hospital - between 30,000 and 35,000 US dollars. It can be way more depending on circumstances. And you haven't asked for the costs for the baby, after s/he's born.
3. I won't go there. Dude, please - how about if you actually TRY? How hard can it be for you to Google that information ?
4. HAH! That MUST be a joke. No, of course not. Not only no insurance company will insure & pay for the delivery, with your wife already being pregnant - but if she was NOT, and you were coming to the US, no insurance you'd get for travel would cover a pregnancy and delivery either.
5. It depends. At least six weeks regular processing. At least three weeks expedited processing.
6. You can APPLY for an extension, which may be or not granted.
In short - you should plan for at least U$S 30,000 - preferably more.
"This is ridiculous! Not a good idea sir. Not a very good idea.
If you have such amount to deliver a baby in new york, might as well keep it for your family's future. Everything is expensive in america, how much more in new york. And # 4 question? Not a penny sir.
Lets say you can obtain passport for your baby right then and then, but you and your wife arent. You will be deported for sure and have to bring the baby. By the age of 18 then "probably" the baby may claim his her rights of citizenship. That if the law will not change. Anything can happen. Make a value out of how you live your life, not of your citizenship."
Child Born in US on B1/B2 visa will be a US national?
I am also from UAE and planning to have our baby in USA. We have B1/B2 visa, given the scenario
1. Is it legally and ethically acceptable by Immigration to come to US for this purpose. Provided we can give proof of financial stability and will not be burden on US tax payers money.
2. If a child is born then will he get the US passport by virtue of his birth on American Soil?
3. Can he hold dual nationality?
4. Will the baby get the passport in a months time or do we have to visit again?

No it is not legal

Yes - but you pre-planning it is not legal
3. Can he hold dual nationality?
No
4. Will the baby get the passport in a months time or do we have to visit again?
1. No. Please don't try.
2. Yes.
3. That depends upon the law of the other country. US itself allows dual citizenship.
4. Around 6 weeks for normal processing and around 2 weeks for expedited processing.

If Chinese are doing this then why are you advising not to try.
They were suggesting no one do this. Anyone trying to intentionally do this is breaking the law and doing something that is illegal here in America. Any man or woman from any nationality can choose do the right thing or the wrong thing.

My wife and myself have B1/B2 visa... I have been to US before about 10 months ago...
my wife is now pregnant, and we are planning to travel to US when she is between 28 - 30 weeks pregnancy and give birth there.
I don't have a medical insurance in US, but I will carry about 15,000 to 20,000 USD cash when I arrive, that is addition to the credit cards I have.
My only concern is :
The risk at the POE, what is the risk of being denued entry? had anyone experienced this? and what should I say if asked?
especially that I have my business here in my country and I do have 2 other sons (they are not joining us in this trip)

No one can say for sure if you would be approved or denied entry.
Your strong ties to home country don't mean anything as your not trying to immigrate at this time, your trying to get U.S. citizenship for your child. This is such a common intention of non U.S. citizens, they will more than likely know what is being attempted. It's like a small child saying they didn't eat any cookies with cookie crumbs all over their face.

Hi Sham,
Are you doing it intentionally to get an U.S. Citizenship for your child??. If so, It is advisable to avoid travel. Also, You may face an issue at the POE.But then, If you have required papers to enter U.S. Nation it will not be an issue.
When applying for B1/B2, did anyone mention the purpose "..for having a baby in the US so he/she can get US citizenship.."? If so, then you're good to go. If not, you'd be in violation of US laws.
Airlines and/or CBP can deny boarding or entry to the US to women at advanced stages of pregnancy.
