Hi, I am 43 years old. My wife (39 y.o.) and I own a partnership firm specialising in graphic design, based in Kolkata. As long time rock music fans, we are planning to travel to the US in October to attend a music festival featuring some of our favourite bands. We already have tickets to the festival, as well as air tickets. This will be our first visit. I have visited Schengen countries (France, Italy, Spain) before (in 2008), my wife has been to the UK and France in 2006-2007. Our trip will be self-financed although we'll be staying with friends (one a university professor, the other a VP in a silicon alley firm), for large chunks of the trip (going for about 18 days), the rest few days, we'll airbnb. My questions are as follows:
1. From the visa type dropdown, I am choosing B and then two further drop-downs appear. B1: Tourism/Business, B2: Tourism/Medical. Which one do I choose, B1 or B2?
2. Monthly income: Our income source is our small business. Our combined gross earnings are a little over 2 lakh a month. After deducting expenses and all taxes, it comes to about 99,000 a month. Which figure should we enter?
3. As everyone else on this forum, our final question is what do you think of our chances? We have no siblings in the US (or anywhere else in the West), our entire extended families are in Kolkata, including my wife's parents, and my mom, who's a widow. Our families own 4 pieces of property in the city, 2 of them in very premium neighbourhoods. We have decent bank balances (currently about 12 lakh in our personal and business accounts combined, not counting the monthly business earnings), plus bonds, FDs and joint accounts with our respective parents. No loans, no credit card dues.
Thanks to everyone in advance.
