My boy friend, a 28-year old Jamaican, applied for a Visitor's Visa to the US in November 2016. He had a folder with an invitation letter from me stating I would pay for his airfare, provide food, and lodging while he is in the US, as well as a copy of my bank statement. The Consular Officer never asked him a single question...she just told him "Denied!" We have tried to find out the reason for his denial, but have been unsuccessful. I thought a Visa Interview was supposed to have questions. Can they just deny without asking questions?
