  • Visit Visa For My Wife's Parents

Hello, I am a USA Citizen who got married in Dec 2006 in India. My wife came to USA with me in August 2007. Now I would like to invite her parents to visit the USA. I am completely new to this and a step by step would be extremely helpful. I have heard that I have to show some bank statement with atleast $500 in the bank account for atleast 6 months if I want to sponser them, is that right? Also I have worked as a contractor and will be starting a perm position soon, will this effect somehow the decision for sponsoring them? Once again, a detailed step by step process would be of much help.

    Thanks,
    Adam.

I am reading through this and I have couple questions:

      1. The bank account I am opened is fairly new and doesn't have a lot of balance, will this still fulfil the requirement of the providing bank proof?

      2. Also, I being a temporary contract worker, will that effect the decision making process?

Thank you so much for help, I will post more questions as I run into them.

      Adam.

not having a big balance does not help, as you can not show that you do not have enough money to cover their expenses.

neither does it help that you work as a temporary contractor.

          thanks

looks like I need a co-sponser. I will be starting a perm position within a week, so that should help.
