  • Visitor Visa - I-134 - Who should sponsor?

I am an IT professional and have been to US multiple (3) times. I have a Bank Of America account which is open since 2005. But I transferred all my savings to India last year.

In the current trip, I came to US in Feb 2009 (3 months ago) and have about 12K USD in my savings account. As per Bank's reference letter my average savings is 6000 USD

    1. Do you think this is balance is enough to sponsor my parents?
    2. Do I need to show my India Bank account savings in Section 7 of I-134?
    3. My parents have a pretty good balance in their account and 2-3 properties too. Would it be better to have them sponsor the trip on their own?
    4. If they should sponsor the trip on their own, who should fill I-134?
    5. If they should sponsor the trip on their own, do they need to show the invite letters (Letter to consulate and letter to parent)

Any help here will be very helpful.

    1. Yes
    2. Yes, you could.
    3. Doesn't matter.
    4. No 134 is needed. Better if you be a sponsor.
    5. Yes, to improve their visa chances.

The ties to home country matter the most.

I will add to txh1b's post. Let them self sponsor their visitor visa and you can send them an invitation letter. Since, they have good bank balances and properties, they can prove that they will return to home country after their visit to USA to take care of their properties.

My father is working in a reputed company at a senior position and has got a leave letter too. But I am still confused on who should sponsor the trip. I have asked them to get the affidavit on property and bank balance to show that they will return to India.

If they sponsor on their own, I guess I need not write in the invite letter to consulate and to parents that I will take care of tickets and all expenses.

        Suggestions?

If your father can afford to foot the bills, then, why bother? Simply send them a letter to vist you and for some tourism. No letter is needed to be addressed to consulate.
