  • B2 Visa denied - Suggestion for reapplication

    Hi,

My mother in law’s B2 tourist visa was denied on October 16th 2019 in Chennai consulate with the reason 214b. I have to reapply for her visa. My I94 will expire October end 2019. My H1 and my spouse H4 extension is in progress.
These are the interview detail :
VO : Who is there in US?
Mother In Law(ML) : Daughter and son in law
VO : How long will u stay there ?
    ML : 3 months
VO : What is your daughter doing?
    ML : Home maker
VO : What is your husband doing?
    ML : business
VO : What is the Salary ?
ML: mentioned her husband's salary(not sure whose salary VO asked)
VO : Where is son in law working?
    ML : Company name
VO : Give your daugher's passport and visa documents?
ML : Gave all the documents including visa documents(she is not aware which one to give)

VO checked the visa documents and said Visa is denied.

I have mentioned as i am paying for their trip in DS160.

    Questions:
    1. Can I change the sponsor as self sponsor?
    2. How long can I wait before reapply?
    3. Will applying visa for father in law along with mother in law help?
    4. Can this be denial due to my visa status(in extension)?
    5. Any additional documents needed other than property , bank statements ?

    Thank your for the help.

Based on forum's input, self sponsor is always better. Yes, you can change that.

Legally there is no wait time, but you should wait & try to identify what went wrong.

Proof of your legal stay, your earnings, bank statement would help.

Your in-laws need to prove strong ties to home country. Check if they have everything for that.
