B2 visa extension-updation

Hi ,
I have submitted visa extension B2 document for my mother.Her current visa expires by July 30 2020 and I have requested extension till October 30 2020.However current situation in India is bad I feel I should have extended for 3 more months.
is there a way I can update while in processing
if we ask for 3 months do they default provide for 6 months
How long does it takes now to know the extension results

Let the response for your initial extension come & then you'll have to reapply for another extension.

I recently called USCIS for the same and they asked to write to the service center with the receipt # for any changes in the application if its still pending.
