I-94 extension for 3 days

My father in-law's I-94 is valid till May 3rd 2006. His return ticket is booked for May 6th. Do I need to file for extension or is there a 5-10 day buffer period

Any extension of visitor visa should be done 45 days prior to the current visa expiry date. Other wise, travel before the expiry date of I-94
